A Note of Appreciation

I write my reviews based on the emotions that flow into me, while reading the book. I dip my pen into the well of those emotions and start writing. I have no idea what triggers those emotions or the review. It can be a word, a sentence, or a page.

Then there are few books where the entire prose evokes a tsunami of emotions, that lump in the throat which just doesn’t disappear till the tears flow down, and constantly reappears as the pages are turned. One such author who does this to me, throws me into the gut-wrenching swirls of emotions, the winds of feelings overpowering me, the tissues which get laden with the tears, is Ms. Amanda Prowse, the Queen of Emotions.

And when such an author goes to my blog, reads my review and my note to her and understands the feelings I want to share, both written and the untold ones, and then sends me a personal mail how do I stop myself from grinning ear to ear? The effervescence of joy, the bubbles of happiness which seem to flow into my veins are simply indescribable. I am walking on air, or so it feels

These are her exact words

Hello Shalini,
Words cannot describe how happy and grateful I was to see your amazing review of ‘Anna’ recently. Thank you so much for taking the time to read her story and share such an insightful review on your wonderful blog, I can’t tell you how much I appreciate it.
Please do not feel obliged to reply as I’m sure that you are very busy holding down such a responsible job too, but I just felt compelled to pass on my thanks and best wishes for being so kind.
Thank you again, sending you love and best wishes, always, Mandy xx

I reiterate the words I have already said in my review of Anna
It would take me a long time to get over a girl named Anna and an author named Amanda Prowse. And now I add, it would take me a very long time to find an author and a human as beautiful as Ms. Amanda Prowse.

    1. Hey Nicole, I have been missing you, your daring baring and your forebearing reviews. Pretty sure no such word exists.
Thank you for your kind words.
I have a damper of a news my neighbour, old and the new, along with the dog, all safe and fine.

      1. Is it sad that I am SO DISAPPOINTED that your neighbours are ok?? Lol!! I GUESS I should be relieved…. But, our theories were way better…. And I’ll definitely have to check that out! I love both you and Jay! 💖💖

  1. Wonderful and well deserved letter Shalini. I myself feel proud to read this of my favourite book reviewer.
I have not done anything so far to take advantage of a reviewer friend like you. I must now start noting down the names of books receiving your higher ratings and get them and start reading them sometime soon thereafter.
Needless to say that I trust your instincts completely. And more so now as you also cry of emotions, like me

    1. Hey Kurian, how are you? That’s so nice of you to say so. I am sure you are doing a fabulous job in your real life. We all do things which enhance us.
The author’s words bring out the emotions, so all the credit goes to it.
I generally don’t cry but some authors pull the heartstrings hard and tears fall…
