Book Review – A Deathly Silence by Jane Isaac @JaneIsaacAuthor #BookReview #BookBlogger #policeprocedural
Happy Publication Day!!
DCI Helen Lavery was simply fabulous!! And I loved the way Jane Isaac wrote this police procedural, with a delicate hand, grasping the minute details so that not a single clue passed through, giving me the opportunity to play detective.
Tortured and mutilated body of a police officer was found in an abandoned factory, and DCI Helen Lavery was called to investigate.
The eeriness caught my eye, the stillness my throat
All I could do is to read on swift yet slow
Such was the power of author Jane Isaac’s words where I was caught by the story from the very first page. I thought it would be a routine police procedural, but what I didn’t know was how much I would enjoy it and lose myself in the scenes of investigation. In fact, I spent the afternoon trying to help Helen to chase down the perp. I wish the author would give me a assistant’s badge.
I was quite enamored by Helen; I couldn’t stop looking at the way she conducted her investigation. She was a born leader, proving to be capable and strong yet dealing with a stern hand. She painstakingly collected evidence and listened to everyone in the team. Though shortstaffed, she valued everyone on her team. As you could see, I was a big fan of her.
This was book 2 in the series, yet worked beautifully as a standalone. I have to commend the author for her writing as she didn’t alienate me while reading the book. She allowed to know and love her characters. Not many police procedural series do that.
A swift pace with an eye to detail, a team with a great leader, a delightfully twisted story with an unexpected reveal, and a new series with a fabulous author.
All of them captured me completely into their web, letting me go only to write this review.
What more could I say that I hadn’t already said. Just that – I LOVED IT!!
I received a free ARC from the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here

Oh sorry, I didn’t know you meant you were getting Helen Lavery book 1 – talking at cross purposes 😂 Out of the other two I prefer Will Jackman.

Helen sounds like a great, strong character! I love procedurals… As long as they don’t get TOO in depth with the actual procedures. Lol! Then I get bored and start skipping things. 😉😂
