Book Review – Brutal Time by Christina Bauer @CB_Bauer @MyMonsterHouse @XpressoTours #BookReview #BlogTour #fantasy

Many thanks to Giselle and Xpresso Tours for my spot on this Blog Tour.

I needed something fun to read and this book was simply fabulous, just what I needed. I have always wanted to read Christina Bauer’s books, and when I got the opportunity, it felt like Christmas in November.

Kyla was one kick-ass, ready to fight, sarcastic part demon who lived in Purgatory. She was the only one who could move souls to Heaven or Hell. This book had the angels fading and Heavenly residents dying, and it was up to Myla to save them. She had to travel back in time to meet King Arthur and get her own knights. Myla was not a team player. At. All. It was upto her and boyfriend Lincoln to find a way out.

My first book by this author, 6th in the series, I did glance through the rest to get an idea of Myla and her world. All I could say was this author’s words were spellbinding, I was in absolute demonic bliss. Myla was simply awesome. I imagined myself to be her minus the tail. I was all team Myla throughout the book.

The plot had action throughout the story along with kisses and making out. I generally don’t like romance, but this felt apt. Myla needed those moments of brevity in between her fights. The worldbuilding was immense, and it felt wonderful to be immersed in that. But it was those sarcastic, bossy dialogues of Myla that I absolutely adored. I used to be her, till I became too polite. I liked looking at the situation via Lincoln’s POV too. He was cute.

What can I say more? Anything demonic fires up my thriller-y mind. And this book produced a fiery blaze that was pure Myla.

I received a free ARC from Giselle and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

All my reviews can be read here

Christina Bauer thinks that fantasy books are like bacon: they just make life better. All of which is why she writes romance novels that feature demons, dragons, wizards, witches, elves, elementals, and a bunch of random stuff that she brainstorms while riding the Boston T. Oh, and she includes lots of humor and kick-ass chicks, too. Christina lives in Newton, MA with her husband, son, and semi-insane golden retriever, Ruby.

As the Great Scala, Myla Lewis is the only being who can move Purgatory’s souls to Heaven or Hell. It’s a big job. Too bad Myla goes through assistants faster than a hot knife through brownies. Not that it bothers her much; Myla’s always been a solo fighter.

Then comes the problem of the fading angels. Millions of Heavenly residents are dying. According to a prophecy, the only way Myla can save them is by traveling back in time, meeting King Arthur, and creating her own knights of the round table. The catch? Doing so might end the after-realms in a bloody demonpocalypse.

Yipes.

Myla and her main squeeze, Lincoln, aren’t afraid of taking a few chances (in between kisses). But this time the stakes may be too high, even for them. And the biggest challenge of all? Finding those knights.

Because Myla Lewis doesn’t play well with others. At all.
