Book Review – The Honeysuckle’s Dream by Kate Frost @katefrostauthor @rararesources #BookReview #BlogTour #contemporary

Many thanks to Rachel and Rachel’s Random Resources for my spot on this Blog Tour.

Huge apologies for the delayed review. Google calendar ate up all my Tours so I think I am gonna be missing quite a few this month. Sighhh

This post is dedicated to Yesha for reminding me about this tour. Check out her blog here

This was an honest life story where the main character Leila lived her life on her own terms as what felt right to her. And I had to admire that.

Pregnant at 18 after an affair with a married man who was old enough to be her father and her parents’ best friend to boot, Leila found herself alone, pregnant, and no home. She went to Bristol, gave birth to her daughter and brought her up the best she could. Then a few years later exchanged her city life for Norfolk where she started her wedding planning business.

My first book by Kate Frost, I loved most of it, but though I have to be honest that I hated some of Leila’s decisions and behavior. But it was the writing which evoked multitude of emotions. The love between the mother and daughter made me realize how deeply anchored their bond was, even when there was friction between them.

I loved the way the author has characterized Leila. She was endearing and so damn honest in her ways of being. I loved the way she had the courage to live life every moment. Her tears were hidden most times, but I could see them seeping through, in between the lines. Betrayal did take their toll, but Leila faced her new decisions without backing down. She chose to honest to herself first.

I might have not agreed with her way of life, but I learned a lot from her, to seize life as it came and to live it fully without regrets and no excuses. The book was entertaining, easy to read, and with different characters adding to the flavor. I loved that 4 decades of life was shown in different timelines with 3 generations of women, with Leila holding my interest completely. All credit to the author.

I downloaded the digital version of the book from Kindle Unlimited, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

All my reviews can be read here

Two men. Three decades. One decision.
Pregnant at nineteen from an affair with a married man, Leila goes against her parents’ wishes. Alone in an unfamiliar city, a fresh start is terrifying.

Leila struggles to navigate between being a single working mum, new friendships, and her bad choices in men. The heartache of past mistakes haunts her. Disillusioned, lonely, and with a fractured mother-daughter relationship, she swaps the vices of city life for the peace of the country. Yet new-found happiness is short-lived and old habits return.

Can Leila let go of her past and find true love?
