Many thanks to Sarah and BOTBS Publicity for my spot on this Blog Tour.
An eerie cover, a chilling first scene, a helpless victim, and a cocky, (and yes, I used the word) sympathetic cop made this one of the most rocking first scene.
I have to be honest, I took up this book because of the cover. The girl called to me, wanting me to read her story. My first book by the author Tony J Forder, though this was part of a series, the police procedural was crazy detailed with a team which worked hard even when an incident in the past shadowed them.
Detective Bliss was brilliant. His one liners kept me going. There was a strong core of determination underneath the reckless glint that he carried, along with a chip on his shoulder. The girl Molly, as seen in the cover, touched his heart too along with a frozen body which made his brain cells tick.
Changes occurred in the department, which added to the dynamics of the team. The plot lines were taut and well strategized, the author knew how to keep the prose thrilling. The only niggle I had was that though this was a new story, it was an old team, so most times, I felt I was standing on the outskirts looking in. I felt alienated, so for me, it wasn’t a standalone.
The lines of investigation and the reveal of the killer were entertaining. The story kept me hopping right through. But it was Bliss to whom my eyes drifted to. He had a presence in the book. He made the story come alive. Dynamic, I would say.
Overall, it was a fun police procedural, thanks to Bliss and his author Tony Forder
I received a free ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

He saved her life once. Can he do it again?
When DI Bliss prevents fifteen-year-old Molly from jumping off the roof of a tall building, he has no idea how deeply she will impact on his life. After learning that the girl is a drugs courier, Bliss realises she is in great danger. As he struggles to have Molly relocated, a local drug dealer and an enforcer sent by the supplier, have other plans for her.
After the remains of a freelance journalist are discovered, an old flame comes back into Bliss’s life. With the clock ticking down, he realises it’s only a matter of time before reports emerge linking the murdered journalist with the police, putting added pressure on the Major Crimes team to find the killer – even if it’s one of their own.
With Bliss torn between the two investigations, he becomes increasingly desperate to move Molly to safety before she can be silenced. But with his focus on saving the girl for a second time, Bliss is blinded to other dangers…
