Today, it is my greatest pleasure to have author Kimberley Cale on my blog. She is sweet and gracious and an overall great human being.
Welcome to my Blog, Kimberley. Let me be the first to congratulate you on the release of your debut, CAUGHT. I wish you great success for your book.
My review of the book, CAUGHT, can be read here
Here it goes
1) Did you always want to be an author?
Hi Shalini thank you for having me and yes, the dream was always there. I was always writing in a journal, even as a young child and later, I would tell stories for the children I used to babysit to keep them entertained. I would make each child the hero of their own story which they loved.
2) Why fantasy? What inspired you to write this book?
I love the endless possibilities I can create with fantasy. I can create my own worlds and in my worlds the impossible becomes possible. I was inspired to write this book because of a scene in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie On Stranger Tides. I liked the first movie the best, but the idea of a mermaid and a pirate being trapped on an island came from there. The Disney cartoon movie Sinbad where the pirates were being attacked by water sirens also fired up my imagination and added inspiration.
3) How long did it take to form thoughts to words?
I started Caught 3 ½ years ago but due to a family tragedy, I stopped because for me family always comes first. When the dust settled I picked it up again. Book two Claimed however I finished in a matter of a couple months.
4) How does a writing day look for you?
For me, five o’clock in the morning is the best time to write. It’s quiet, peaceful, and no one is calling until around 9 am just when I’m ready for a break.
5) What would you advise the newbie writers?
I believe in the philosophy that whatever you believe to be true is true for you so if you allow yourself to really believe you can write that book you will.
6) When you think Caught, what is the song that comes to your mind? (if possible, give me the YouTube link too)
When I heard the song Never Stop Dreaming on Shutterstock, I knew it was the song for Caught. The soft piano notes in the beginning draws you in then the violins create an exciting rise like you’re about to see an action packed movie. The pounding of the drums reminds me of ocean waves pounding against the shore. The music is just as it’s described, passionate with cinematic elements and so I used it for the Caught book trailer here is the link
7) What is the one thing that no one in the world knows about you?
As beautiful as I think they are, I can’t wear jewelry of any kind, not earrings, rings or necklaces. I guess my family know this about me but it’s not common knowledge to others.
8) Any last words at the end of this interview?
My biggest goal is to entertain my readers with the stories I write. That’s the goal. Thank you Shalini for graciously inviting me here today.
Ah, you are most welcome. Isn’t she lovely?
That was author Kimberley Cale with her debut CAUGHT.
