This was one of the books that I kept picking it up and keeping in down as I couldn’t seem to get into it.
Being a lazy Saturday, I finally wiped the slate clean and started the book with gusto. The premise sounded exciting, the blurb made me feel as if things would keep happening every few pages.
But I thought this got lost in translation. Jasmin hit something but what was it. Her husband was infidel but was he really? To escape the trauma she moved to a remote island with her son. But then she discovered secrets which put both her and her son’s life in danger.
The best part of the book was the description as the island felt ominous, great atmosphere written in by the author. The concept was great, but the delivery fell apart. There were too many things happening which didn’t feel seamless. Some felt way out there, and the twist could be easily guessed.
But with so many great thrillers, this one didn’t grip me. I hopped, skipped, and jumped till I got to the end. You can give this one a miss. On to my next.
She came to the island to escape what she did. But the island won’t let her forget.
It was a terrible, terrible accident. Jasmin Hansen knows she hit something. It must have been a deer—that’s what her husband keeps telling her. But Jasmin saw a man’s face, and the nightmares won’t stop.
Some time out at their holiday home on the remote island of Minsøy seems the ideal solution for Jasmin and her five-year-old son, Paul. But you can’t hide from your memories, and Jasmin is haunted at every turn. When mysterious messages begin to arrive at her isolated cottage, it becomes clear that she isn’t the only one who knows what happened that night. Somebody wants her to pay. And when Jasmin uncovers the island’s shocking long-held secret, she realises there isn’t a single person she and Paul can trust.
As the island closes in on her and the threats against her escalate, can Jasmin discover who knows the truth of what she did before it’s too late?

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.
