A fast read, this came as a part of Amazon recommendation, the title caused me to try this author. Daniel was beaten and left to die. He was a LGBTQ activist and Cora found her son’s clothes stained with blood on the same night. Was her son involved? She hid the secret and washed away the stains, but the one in her brain caused her to get to the truth.

The book had religious undertones, which were not for me. But the suspense aspect was done well. At 200 pages, it was an easy read where I could finish the book in one sitting. The repercussions of hate crime was sensitively explored. It was obvious the author found a balance between driving home her point and adding to the suspense.

The story started off fine but did manage to detract my attention in some parts as I wanted more of the direct mystery rather than off shoots. But the story managed to keep my curiosity going about Cora’s son. The love a mother had for her child shone well, keeping the emotions well within the plotline.

I wouldn’t say this was one of my best reads, but this did keep me involved with my kindle over the afternoon.

Rating: 3 out of 5.

An investigative reporter hell bent on finding the truth.

A mother’s worst nightmare.

What really happened to the Reyes boy?

In the heart-stopping and timely suspense novel, Secrets Mothers Keep, widow and mother Cora Maxwell faces the hardest decision of her life.

And if so… what is the cost?

Publication Date: May 2021

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.
