I love a good medical thriller, and this book raised my curiosity quite a bit.

Dr KATE was conscientious in her work, and when her patients started dying day 2 post-op, her integrity compelled her go down the road of investigation with quite an unlikely team.

My first book by author Tammy Euliano, I loved the swift pace of the first section where along with the mystery I was shown quite a bit of her life.

The story lost me in the mid section when the investigation got slowed down and quite a few characters found their way into the book. Also, the villain was made known early on.

It was just a matter of turning of pages to get to the truth. The story raised some debatable questions of medical practice. I loved the authenticity of it, I knew there were quite a few of us in the medical field who would do anything to earn money.

The ending was explosive, I would have liked it more if the suspense had been built up in the journey too. A good debut.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Elderly patients are dying at home days after minor surgery. Natural causes? Malpractice? Or a serial killer? And why doesn’t anyone care? Anesthesiologist Dr. Kate Downey wants to know why, but her unorthodox investigation threatens her job, her family, and her very life. The stakes escalate to the breaking point when Kate, under violent duress, is forced to choose which of her loved ones to save—and which must be sacrificed.

Publication Date: January 2021

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.
