MY REVIEW

One of the best books I have read in a long, long time. And that included yesterday’s book The Stepsisters by Susan Mallery. I loved, loved reading and listening to every single word of this beautiful, awe-inspiring, emotional story.

Kathleen, an octogenarian, wanted her adventure. A road trip on Route 66 in California. And she needed a driver. Entered Martha who hated driving, yet wanted to escape her life.

Kathleen’s daughter Liza was the more cautious one, ready to wrap her mom in cotton wool. This story was the journey of their lives and forming a close bond with each other. A little matchmaking on the road trip wouldn’t go amiss, of course.

Relationships were what the story was all about. The complexities of them were explored in minute details. I loved seeing the twisted knots opening up, and love bubbling in their hearts. So many times tears welled up in my eyes on seeing these women take the brave steps to live life on their terms.

A human being is designed to live life, no matter how hard it seems at times.

Author Sarah Morgan

This was so true. The lines from this book inspired me. They helped me see how I had been living my life away from life itself. I might not know what would happen tomorrow but I did understand the steps I would have to take to make it happen.

Some of the lines were epic

Why hadn’t she gone to self-defense classes instead of senior yoga? What use was the downward dog when what you needed was a guard dog?

The author’s writing was as fabulous as ever, seeped in different emotions and colors, showing me life as never before.

Truly, one of the best by author Sarah Morgan

BOOK BLURB

Kathleen is eighty years old. After she has a run-in with an intruder, her daughter wants her to move in to a residential home. But she’s not having any of it. What she craves—what she needs—is adventure.

Liza is drowning under the daily stress of family life. The last thing she needs is her mother jetting off on a wild holiday, making Liza long for a solo summer of her own.

Martha is having a quarter-life crisis. Unemployed, unloved and uninspired, she just can’t get her life together. But she knows something has to change.

When Martha sees Kathleen’s advertisement for a driver and companion to share an epic road trip across America with, she decides this job might be the answer to her prayers. She’s not the world’s best driver, but anything has to be better than living with her parents. And traveling with a stranger? No problem. Anyway, how much trouble can one eighty-year-old woman be?

As these women embark on the journey of a lifetime, they all discover it’s never too late to start over.
