This was a beautifully nuanced book that had two damaged souls coming together and slowly healing, then falling in love with each other.

I loved the characters in the book, they had a depth to them. Nothing instant about their relationship as they slowly found their way toward each other, taking care of the sensitivities surrounding them. Just like in real life.

Maggie was instantly likable, finding her strength in every page. I loved how she rose from betrayal to living a new life on her terms. The story was formulaic in some ways, but there was comfort in knowing it would be a HEA.

A character based story, I rarely drift toward them, the author managed to pique my interest by keeping it close to reality, which felt genuine. The angst written gave them another layer. Though slow in its perception, it did fill my afternoon with hope.

A sweet beginning for both. And me.

Rating: 4 out of 5.

When Maggie’s husband is killed in an accident, leaving her alone to raise two young boys, she thinks life can’t get any worse – until she discovers something in her husband’s belongings that shatters her world forever.

Forced to sell what should have been their forever home, Maggie packs up and moves her family to Jewel Harbor, a picturesque coastal town where nobody knows her painful secret. And when she meets Evan, a local boat builder who volunteers to help fix up her new home, she begins to wonder if he couldn’t help fix her heart too.

But Maggie isn’t the only one haunted by a secret tragedy. When Evan’s past threatens to destroy his future, Maggie finds herself tested in ways she couldn’t have imagined…

I downloaded the digital version of the book from an online retail, and this is my journey down its pages, straight from the heart. STRICTLY HONEST and UNBIASED.

  1. Nice! And in the process I learned the acronyms HEA and HFN. I prefer books like this one (and movies too) where the main characters get to know each other before they jump into bed.
