Book Review - Finding Grace by K L Slater @bookouture #BookBlogger #AmReading

A missing child trope written by K. L. Slater, you betcha I was going to be right there at the forefront reading this. This became one of my midnight reads as the intrigue and the secrets of the past demanded my complete attention.

Walking from home could be a peril, and 9 year old Grace and her parents realized that when she suddenly vanished. One blind bend of the road and one moment of inattention, changed their lives, and saving Grace and bringing her back home was all Lucie and Blake wanted.

K. L. Slater’s writing once again ignited my imagination regarding the whereabouts of the child and made me follow the many red herrings placed strategically to lead the mind down the narrow off-roads. Written in 2 timelines, the book could both reveal and horrify me the way naivete and innocence could be captured and used down the merry road.

Predictable theme and slightly weird truth reveals niggled me. Yet the fast pace, hidden secrets, twisty ending made this an enjoyable read till 2am.

  1. Ok, first off, who even lets their FOUR year old walk back home on their own?? 2nd, I dislike how something bad happens the very first time the parents allow their kid a little independence. That’s giving a wrong message. Although, this is a four y.o. we’re talking about so…

  3. This book does sound hard to put down. I hope you could sleep when you finished. 😳 Secrets uncovered always make for a more interesting plot. Thanks for sharing your take on this book. I hope Grace got home safely—but don’t tell and spoil.👍

  16. I cannot read this trope; as a mother it is too close to the heart. Once when my oldest was a toddler, we went to the Rainbow Fair where I used to teach. One second and she was gone. My heart dropped. A former parent of mine helped looked as did my husband. C had wandered off and gone around the jumpy houses to the back! Our youngest at Six Flags when she was small wandered off stealth as we never heard her go off to look at the dolphins nearby.

    • Omg omg…. Then I can perfectly understand. Children think world is a good place that they need to explore… We know world is good but people aren’t.
      I am the same with my niece, I harass my sister about it

    • I understand and I haven’t found any Book after that to read.
      I am reading one where the main character has pooped in her pants and in the car and I am thinking DNF… crapping in pants was not pertinent to scene and yeah boss was in car - he goes - what’s that smell

      • Not kidding… I have lost my MOJO to read and this was so bad I DNFed it.. Just went to the last page and read about the perp… Gawd… They spoilt the story about a medical examiner

      • Oh, Nina, I didn’t tell you the scene
        The main character was nurse/doctor turned medical examiner after some training, at times she says nurse other times, doctor. Then she eats leftover tuna from many weeks ago when there was fresh pizza, but she wanted tuna. She told me her trips to the loo and called it Mount Vesuvius, described the tips for 2 pages, diagnoses herself to have good poisoning takes 1 tablet and suddenly decides to go to work (in the entire book, her boss did autopsy, she just poked her nose everywhere, but got angry when others did) picked up her boss, suddenly felt mount vesuvius rumbling (yes she called it that) and needed to get to loo. She runs over the t junction stop sign, bangs her car at the lamp post, and craps literally. Her boss goes - what’s that smell, she wanted to say she farted but evidence went down her leg. Yes, I was told that
        She could have killed someone while making the illegal turn. And yes she goes to office with the brown stain, describing it to me, met her colleague who goes with hand on nose
