Book Review – Rhodes by Christina Bauer @CB_Bauer @MyMonsterHouse @XpressoTours #BookReview #BlogTour #fantasy
Many thanks to Giselle and Xpresso Tours for my spot on this Blog Tour.
Wowza… This packed quite a punch, for a novella. I have to be honest that I hadn’t read the the previous books in the series. But no matter, after the first few pages, I could understand it quite easily. That was the power of Christina Bauer’s writing.
This was about dragon shifters. Zinnia and Rhodes were soul mates. In the dragon land they were princess and the help. On earth they were band mates and lovers. In the dragon realm, Killian wanted Zinnia as his bride. The king and queen had to procrastinate as Killian knew where the soul of a powerful being Chimera was. So Rhodes had a few decisions to make.
My second book by this author, I glanced through book 2 Zinnia to understand the characters a bit more. Both of them were sweet, their love shone on both realms. Emotions were strong, the author saw to it that words written evoked them all along. The other characters too added to the story making it rich.
For me, the world building was quite different and exciting. I liked how the author could manage to make both the realms interesting. With short snappy chapters, this was an easy read which kept me busy right till the end. A fast paced story with twists, I was left quite amazed at the author’s imagination. Dialogues were quite snappy with different points of view which made it one great read. Fun!!
I received a free ARC from Giselle and the author, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

Christina Bauer thinks that fantasy books are like bacon: they just make life better. All of which is why she writes romance novels that feature demons, dragons, wizards, witches, elves, elementals, and a bunch of random stuff that she brainstorms while riding the Boston T. Oh, and she includes lots of humor and kick-ass chicks, too. Christina lives in Newton, MA with her husband, son, and semi-insane golden retriever, Ruby. She loves to connect with her fans at BauersBooks.com.
As dragon shifters, Rhodes and Zinnia should never have fallen in love. Why? Zin’s a princess while Rhodes is only the hired help. If the pair remain in the dragon realm, then age-old prejudices might tear them apart.
But returning to Earth isn’t any better. In the human world, Rhodes and Zin are a musical sensation … and fame’s an even bigger relationship killer. Not to mention the fact that their old nemesis, Killian, keeps hatching evil plots against them. Bottom line? Rhodes has huge decisions to make, both for himself and Zin.
Sadly, it isn’t clear what path—if any—will end with Rhodes and his love having a future together

Dragon shifters? Say what?!? – What has happened to your blood-lusting breakfast murders? This is quite a change in genre for you, I am shocked! 😉

I am shocked too… I read cutie cutie books with romance and stuff this December. Something in the air is playing against me. I am getting approved only for romance…. Why o why? Not a single murder and mayhem in my hands… My blood thirsty heart gave me the finger and shriveled up…. Sighhh

Terrific review Shalini. I’ve been reading more shorts and novellas recently and find them a really nice change of pace, especially when I’m busy or tired.
