I am stronger than I think
This is the theme of the book that we are stronger than we ever think ourselves to be. This story by Carol Wyer brought out that fact in every page of the book.
The main character Chloe suffered from crippling social anxiety, and every chapter showed how she slowly tried to be strong in spite of it. Every day was a struggle. I understood that. I don’t like being in large crowds or talking to numerous people. It scares me, I rarely attend my conferences due to that. So I got her main character Chloe.
It was quite brave when Cloe bought a house at Sunny Meadows Farm as a new start to her life, after her husband’s infidelity. I could understand her need for solitude and peace. Soon she joined the Singleton Club, though under the influence of alcohol, and it brought about a change in her slowly and steadily. I could understand her good and bad days, days when she could be social and some when she could not. I found it quite real as I have days like that.
There were a few niggles, I didn’t like the twerking video of the main character being uploaded on Instagram, I would never ever do that even to get over my fears/shyness. And romance shown did not feel real, there were no sparks. The book felt like a friend zone, but the chapters moved slowly for me. It wasn’t the romantic comedy as the tag-line said.
The book was a great change of pace to my thrillers, it touched my heart in some ways. I could identify with the main character. I may not be brave enough to join such a Club, but it did make me feel not so lonely.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Publisher Canelo, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!!

Bless you, Shalini. Thank you so much for this superb and honest review. I have to admit the twerking scene wasn’t my choice (it got added later thanks to editing) but was necessary. I understand what it’s like to be shy. I may appear uber-confident but I stay away from people most of the time and hide on a hill on a development much like Chloe’s. I ave to be cajoled to attend events or go out. I have tried out some of the crazy events in this book (in the name of research) and discovered that I too am stronger than I think and I hope the book does at least send that message loud and clear. We shouldn’t hide inside ourselves and stepping out of our comfort zones is sometimes a good thing. (Although twerking and uploading the video is definitely not on my list.)Thank you again for this lovely review and trust me… you are not alone. XOXO

Awww Carol, some parts of your book really touched me a lot. I am not agoraphobic but I don’t like crowds… Besides I don’t remember names or probably I don’t want to remember names, hence I don’t attend many conferences. I talk to only people I comfortable with…
Thank you so much for understanding this review and where I come from.
I tried twerking, my hips said - sorry, we quit!! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂

Happy Easter my dear! This theme sounds very interesting, because actually most people have a fear against crowds of people, and social displacement. Thank you for another great review. You really aways meet the core of the books. Michael

Twerking aside… 😂… this sounds like a really sweet read. Sometimes it really is hard to go out and mix and mingle 😊

I understand. Hey I can twerk… in my mind… 😂 😂 😂 😂 My hips say - fuck off and stop harassing us. I have tried it but they don’t move as I wasn’t them to… Aww shucks

I would love to find a way to get over my extreme social anxiety! These book characters always seem to find a way and, sadly, I do not. LOL! This sounds like a good change of pace from the norm for you Shalini - I’m glad you enjoyed it! Have a great week!

Great review as always, Shalini. The singles scene-nah-won’t ever go there. But I do seek a proper women’s educational group and provide the lurker.

Great review Shalini. I have read a couple of titles by Carol though all are crime thrillers. This sounds different but really good. I like the fact that it was relatable minus the twerking upload

The theme of the book really seems quite good. The slow pace is not so nice, tbh, but it can be an interesting reading.

It was a fun read in most parts. It is not easy to deal with social anxiety so Carol has portrayed this well.
