Forgotten memories, death of a sibling, travel between wakefulness and sleep, search for the truth form the premise of this thriller

Lucid dreaming is a topic I have always been fascinated about, and this book weaves this in an enthralling story about a sister who has forgotten the death of her brother… The memories are deeply locked in her subconscious brain.

Traveling in the dream world deep in her subconscious to unlock the forgotten memories, Madeline dives in a lake and comes out with the key to her brother’s death. As she investigates in the town of her summer home, she comes across people, all of whom have a secret. Each appear different in this dream-awake world.

Brooke de Lira has captured the story wavering between the lines of horror and thriller with a investigation of ?death/murder. I liked how she has portrayed main character Madeleine, whose love for her brother forced her to escape the realms of her conscious world to go deep into the depths of the mind. I loved how the book captured my imagination and caused goosebumps to appear at the scenes which had those beings with no eyes except darkness.

The book was a fast paced cracker though some parts meandered away off-routes, but the story did return back to the main plot. The reasoning of death of brother could have been slightly more imperative in this day and age.

Overall, I had great fun as the book too hooked me into my bookish subconscious…

  3. Oh yeah. Sometime ago when I would dream I would feel it’s really happening even though I know it’s a dream and feels too ‘drugged’ to wake up. Mainly happened when I was preggo though😄. But nice review. Sounds different 😃

  8. I’ve always been fascinated by lucid dreaming too (especially since I discovered it was something I could do 😉 ) so I definitely like the sound of this incorporating that. Sounds fascinating and really well done! Great review!

  9. Wooh, great review and I’m still not sure what to think. Different, but good different, which is the best kind. Lucid dreaming, huh? gulp. You have to wonder when dreams go so far off the rails, why. And I’ve always thought-trying to tell you something.
