Book Review – A Summer to Remember at Herring Bay @AngelaBritnell @ChocLituk #BookReview #BookBlogger #contemporary

A cute book where I was as curious as a cat to know the secrets hidden in the past. Author Angela Britnell sure did know how to make me smile on a rainy afternoon.

Essy had come to Cornwall on business and to meet her aunt since her mum was not talking about the reason why she had left Herring Bay and not looked back. Ruan had his own secrets, and his mother didn’t want Essy to be in Cornwall. What the heck had happened?

Having read her books previously, the author was a big favorite of mine. She kept me hopping in the book with those indirect dialogues. My mind went zapping, trying to solve the clues. I felt like a gossip queen who wanted to poke those characters and force them to reveal. Quite a surprise it was, the secret and me reacting so much in a romantic book.

Both Essy and Ruan were great characters, their banter was amusing. But my heart belonged to Essy, she was just so sweet. Their time together caused quite a flutter. She was quite determined to get to the truth.

I loved Angela’s writing. It was quaint and loving with British words peppered through it. The story held my interest from beginning to end. A beautiful way to spend a lazy afternoon. Tea, biscuits, and Angela’s new book.

I received a free ARC from the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.

A fabulous new romance to escape with this summer. Set in Cornwall.

Essy Havers is good at finding things. Her company specialises in helping clients track down anything, from missing china pieces to rare vintage clothing. But now Essy has something more important to find: herself.
Essy has always been curious about her mother’s secret past and her Cornish roots. So, when the opportunity arises, she hops on a plane in Tennessee and ends up in Herring Bay in Cornwall; the village where her mother grew up.
But once there, she’s mystified by the reactions of the villagers when they realise who she is. Was Essy’s decision to visit Cornwall a mistake, or will it lead to a summer she’ll never forget?
