Book Review – Mystery Island by Jim Ody @Jim_Ody_Author @BOTBSPublicity #BookReview #BlogTour #thriller
Many thanks to Sarah and BOTBS Publicity for my spot on this Blog Tour.
I am a great fan of Clive Cussler and his NUMA series and have a massive crush on Dirk Pitt. With the blurb and cover pic, I was eager to get my hands on this book.
A treasure map and mystery island near Maui caused Donna and Kyle to set their sight on it. Their relationship would have got the boost with the time spent. Along with their friends, they hoped for an adventure of a lifetime. They got some shockers.
My first book by Jim Ody, the exotic island of Maui was the perfect setting for this book. The prologue was intriguing and gave me an idea of how fast paced this story was to be. I loved how it made me curious about the mystery island and the strange things that kept it shrouded in mystery.
The author could intersperse the action-filled prose with the changes in their relationship. Friendship and humor were written in, but soon with the need to seek treasure, a spirit of adventure kicked in. The story rose in pitch when Donna and Kyle were left stranded on the island.
Then my niggles came in. I wanted more suspense and intriguing subplots which brought out the haunting sense of mystery. Pulse spikes in me were missing. I realized I have a different sense of humor.
Overall, a few surprising twists and the shocking line in the epilogue made it a good read.
I received a ARC from NetGalley and the publisher, and this is my journey into its pages, straight from the heart!! STRICTLY HONEST AND UNBIASED.
All my reviews can be read here
The Island of dark secrets lies close to Maui. Few have ventured there, fewer have returned.
With a map in hand, extreme-sports enthusiasts, Kyle and Donna, descend to the depths of the Pacific Ocean in search of treasure. Will they find it? And will they survive?
Peering eyes are everywhere, lurking and in wait, ready to take back what’s theirs.
Some things are better left buried.

The setting alone has me putting this on my TBR and when you add in action and humor, definitely the kind of book I can’t resist. Great review!

Oh yes. Idle mind and devil’s workshop and all that. Now you know what I do at 3am. Utter rubbish and useless stuff, yet once a thought occurs that I am too boring, I end doing all this. Sheesh.
